New Orleans (La.) Office of Economic Development Hitcom Records, 1984-1988 (bulk 1985-1986) 2 boxes
Records from the Office of Economic Development dealing with the effort by Studio Devlopment Coporation (Hitcom)
to develop a
motion picture studio in the Warehouse District. Hitcom sought a HUD Section 108 loan guarantee to be secured by a
pledge of the city's Community Development Block Grant. Negotiations between Hitcom and the city broke off in
November, 1986; the Barthelemy administration cited the company's "lack of performance in critical areas and failure to
meet key deadlines."
The bulk of the records cover the final year of Mayor Ernest N. Morial's administration and the first months of the
Sidney J.
Barthelemy administration, although some files include documents dated as early as 1984 and as late as 1988.
Additional Hitcom records may be found among the records of Mayor Barthelemy's Office of Economic Development.
The records were received from City Hall in April, 1991.
